You would think that this celebration comes hand in hand with a great anniversary related to the industry … but no. This day was born in 2008, thanks to the initiative of the Spanish magazines: PlayManía, Hobby Consolas and PC Manía, who sought to enhance the pride of being a gamer.

The proposal was so successful among the community that it became official, so much so that companies do different dynamics on this day to celebrate it. Therefore, the origin of this celebration comes from one of the most beautiful traditions that gamers have had: video game magazines.

In the United States there is a different date, September 12 is National Video Game Day.
