Video game companies and the OMS join forces to combat the coronavirus

The outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected the way in which people live daily. Video games have been one of the ways in which they have found an option to entertain themselves in the midst of quarantines and isolation. This is why they are potentially a tool to promote prevention. Taking advantage of this medium, several video game companies and the World Health Organization (WHO) today announced an alliance to help disseminate measures to reduce infections.

Through a press release (via Business Wire), it was revealed that the WHO and companies in the electronic entertainment industry joined forces to promote messages with the recommended measures to overcome this contingency. Under the name “#PlayApartTogether”, the initiative invites players to follow the prevention measures that the WHO has communicated, such as hand washing, respiratory recommendations and physical distancing.

There are 18 companies related to the video game industry that will incorporate messages about the coronavirus in their games in order to send the message “wherever you are, any game you play, you can make a difference”.
