Thai teen dies after all-night computer gaming sessions: Reports
Pulling all-nighters to play online video games turned deadly for a teen in Thailand.
Piyawat Harikun, 17, was found slumped on a bedroom floor beside a computer desk by his devastated dad on Monday while he was on school holidays,
“I called his name and said ‘wake up, wake up’ but he did not respond,” said the teen’s father Jaranwit Harikun, “I could see he was dead.”
The teen’s desk had take-out boxes and a bowl of noodles, while a bottle of pop was found at his feet.
Medics that attended the scene concluded the gamer had died of a stroke in which they believe was due to staying up all night to play video games.
Jaranwit said he had warned his son about dangers of constant playing, but to no avail.
“My son was smart and always did great at school but he had a major problem with gaming addiction,”.
“I tried to warn him about his relentless long hours playing games and he promised to reduce it, but it was too late. He had already died before he had a chance to change.”
