Eternal Doom: the study recognizes that there was crunch for "almost all of last year"

The new Bethesda and id Software has not gotten rid of crunch. Doom Eternal was recently delayed to polish small rough edges, but it is almost ready, as we have seen in the impressions published on MeriStation. Meanwhile, Marty Stratton, executive producer of the project, has acknowledged in an interview with VG24 / 7 that the team was subjected to overtime during most of the year 2019, although he states that they have a rotation system so that the groups can rest.

“It goes in phases. We have a group of people who crunch so that the next team of people prepare well. When they finish, maybe [the other group] needs to do some crunch, ”he admits. However, Stratton defends that they “really try” to be “very respectful of people” and their lives. “We have very dedicated employees who simply choose to work in many cases.” According to his words, “it’s great”, because they want “the game to be perfect” to meet their own expectations and that of consumers.

“We work very hard and put extra time to do it. Sometimes, when we have more time, we do it anyway because we want it to be much better. ” A delay like that of Doom Eternal gives you “a little encouragement,” but it is “one of those things that you squeeze even more.”
