CD Projekt ensures that it will vigorously defend itself against investor demand
The controversy sparked by the debut of Cyberpunk 2077 and the state of the game at the time is far from over and will soon enter the territory of legal disputes after a group of investors sued CD Projekt following the stock slump. Despite the harsh environment at the moment, the Polish company is ready for the legal battle, as recently noted.
According to information from Bloomberg, after the registration of the investors’ lawsuit against CD Projekt SA was confirmed, the Polish company responded that it “will vigorously defend itself against the allegations made against it.”
In case you don’t know, a group of investors decided to take legal action against CD Projekt after the disastrous debut of Cyberpunk 2077 impacted the value of the company’s stock on the stock market.
This drop was attributed to Sony’s announcement in which they report that Cyberpunk 2077 will not be sold on the PS Store until further notice and at the disposal of the Japanese company, as well as Microsoft with Xbox and video game store chains, to agree to reimburse to players who bought the game and are not satisfied with it.
This situation gave a significant blow to the value of CD Projekt SA shares, which saw a 22% decline, which translates into the immediate disappearance of more than $ 1800 million. Investors obviously bet their money on Cyberpunk 2077 as it was one of the most anticipated games in recent years and for which an impressive marketing campaign was prepared. Sadly, the game debuted with a significant number of bugs and the PS4 and Xbox One versions were so bad that a scandal was inevitable.
